The 76ers made a surprising move today, trading Ben Simmons to the Lakers. The Sixers have been rebuilding for years but this trade shows that they may be ready to take this next step and become contenders in the future.

The “nba standings” is a surprising stance from the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers have traded their star player, Ben Simmons, to the Lakers for a package of young players and draft picks.

The Ben Simmons controversy continues to be a hot topic around the Philadelphia 76ers, as everyone predicted. Even though they began the year on a strong note, the former No. 1 choice was still the center of attention.

The Sixers penalized Simmons for missing the team’s six-game road trip, the latest episode in this continuing conflict between player and organization. The three-time All-Star is still not psychologically prepared to return to the court, and a return date hasn’t even been mentioned. Simmons has been sighted working out at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia since the team left for their vacation.

During the Sixers’ game against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday, spectators heard members of the national media provide their perspectives on the odd scenario. While the most of this debate took place during halftime, there was one fascinating snippet of information that was revealed during the broadcast.

According to NBA TV’s Kristen Ledlow, she talked with certain members of the Sixers organization on Tuesday, and there is a disagreement on Simmons’ viewpoint. According to reports, some people believe the 25-year-old should be welcomed back, while others believe it’s time to cut their losses and stop the drama.

@KristenLedlow just indicated on air that reaction from Sixers players she spoke with was mixed on Simmons’ approach. One of them, she claims, feels they should welcome him back because he improves them.

“‘We have to break the connection and go ahead,’ says another.”

It’s hardly surprising that there would be some resistance inside this group at this stage. When it all started, no one anticipated it to go on for so long. Not to mention that the problem is just getting worse.

With each passing week, we witness one side try a new chess move in an effort to gain an advantage over the other. Take last Thursday, for example, when The Athletic released an article with substantial statements from Simmons’ agent Rich Paul during the Sixers’ game against the Toronto Raptors in the midst of the game.

The squad has done an excellent job of filtering out the noise, but it is certain that it has weighed on them in some way. This six-foot-eleven elephant in the room rears its head on a daily basis and shows no signs of going away anytime soon.

Despite the fact that things are growing worse by the day, Daryl Morey has not altered his mind about a deal. He will not trade Simmons until he receives an offer that improves the Sixers’ prospects of contending for an NBA title. Morey has showed remarkable patience, but it’s not unreasonable to believe that others have reached their limit.

Based on this information, the company may have a developing issue on its hands. If the chasm widens as the season progresses, it may become more difficult to ignore the distraction. It’s just a matter of time until they pull the trigger on a transaction sooner than they’d want.

Months later, no one knows when or how this drama will come to a conclusion. Whether or if there is an internal schism, the Sixers must allow it to distract them from their primary goal on the court.
