The first part of the Merge was an amazing experience but we got some feedback that it could be better. So, here’s all the new stuff you can look forward to!

The “abstract update from master” is the process of updating a branch without actually merging it into the main code. This can be done by using git merge –no-ff.

(CBS News) — Last night’s part 2 merging show was heated, to say the least! Things are evolving at a rapid pace. These castaways are playing on a whole new level now that the merge is officially here. Here’s what you could have missed:

Exile Island is a place where people are exiled

The cliffhanger from last week’s episode had us wondering if Erika would make a risky, game-changing choice or play it safe. As a reminder, she’s been granted a lot of authority in the game, and she’ll be making the game’s most important choice yet. She may influence the game’s history if she destroyed this menacing black sand hourglass. That implies that those who failed the previous challenge (including her) would gain Immunity, but those who had previously gained Immunity would lose it. Erika gained the confidence she needed in the game after making this game-changing decision. She tells how the harrowing experience on Exile only served to hone her courage and character. So, how did she come to her decision?

Individual Immunity Examination

Erika returned from Exile Island for the first Individual Immunity Challenge, where she and presenter Jeff Probst introduced the new twist. Tensions were at an all-time high, and Erika admitted that she had, in fact, shattered the hourglass! Erika altered the path of history, and she’s grateful about it!

Not to mention how, in Part 1, we witnessed her former Luvu tribe members preparing to vote her out next! They’re in for an unpleasant awakening now…

Those who won the previous challenge and immunity are no longer safe and must participate in the Individual Immunity Challenge as Erika flipped the game. This also implies that individuals who were expected to compete at the next The Tribal Council is a group of people that get together, including Erika, are now safe!

Xander, Heather, Liana, Tiffany, and Shan, as well as Erika, now have immunity.

Naseer, Danny, Ricard, Deshawn, Sydney, and Evvie will now participate in the Individual Immunity Challenge.

Everyone’s cheeks were flushed with surprise. But, as Deshawn so eloquently said, this is Survivor 41, and there will be no fooling around. Sure, it’s a letdown… But it’s because of these twists that Survivor is Survivor!

As a result, these six disgruntled castaways must now participate in their first Individual Immunity Challenge in the hopes of regaining their immunity. The castaways competed in a famous Survivor task in which they were limited to using only their feet. The player who can release their rope, stack their set of blocks, and put their flag on top without using their hands wins Immunity!

This challenging task has been seen before in prior seasons, but these castaways made it seem simple! The whole race was a nail-biter. On the last stage of the challenge, it came down to Evvie and Sydney (pun intended). These girls were on the verge of victory, and they were giving it their all. But then, seemingly out of nowhere, Ricard emerges victorious and takes home the first Individual Immunity!

Tribal Council

Before Tribal even started, chaos was building. As we all know, Liana has a significant edge in that she has the ability to take someone’s idol or advantage. Liana’s “Knowledge is Power” advantage enables her to just ask the appropriate person the right question to take someone’s asset. However, if she is mistaken, she loses all of her advantages. We watched how Shan blabbed about Liana’s advantage in front of Tiffany last week in part 1. Tiffany now informs her closest supporters, Xander and Evvie, about the “Knowledge is Power” advantage since she doesn’t trust Liana.

Shan, on the other hand, is directing the other alliances and persuading them to vote Evvie out next. Tiffany and Xander, however, are safe at Tribal Council and are considering using Xander’s idol to keep Evvie safe in this game. They’re even ahead of the game now that they know Liana may take it.

Let the anarchy begin.

Xander, Evvie, and Tiffany devise a cunning scheme to create suspicion among the other alliances. Xander chooses to tell Danny (who is intending to vote Evvie out) about how he is acting as Evvie’s idol during Tribal Council. Oh, and Xander also informs him that they are all aware of Liana’s “Knowledge is Power” advantage. This causes havoc in Danny’s, Liana’s, Shan’s, Deshawn’s, Ricard’s, Naseer’s, and Sydney’s close alliance. This bunch is in a panic! To save one of them from being voted out, they need Liana to take Xander’s idol. So, before Tribal Council, Liana tries to reestablish trust among her former tribe mates, Tiffany, Xander, and Evvie, by assuring them that Evvie is safe. We also witness Xander tuck away what we believe is his idol right in front of Liana in this scenario. This gives Liana the notion that Xander is still in possession of the idol…

Things got crazy during Tribal Council, but in true Survivor way. Evvie explained how she’d be protected owing to Xander’s idol as Probst led the discussion. This was a big piece of fat bait for Liana to eat. Xander then pulls out an idol necklace, along with a message outlining how all of the idols would soon be Evvie’s. Liana takes use of this knowledge without hesitation, announcing to the tribe that she is using her “Knowledge is Power” advantage. “Does he have an idol?” she instantly asks Xander. “No… but you can have this fake,” Xander adds, swiftly deflating Liana and Shan’s caustic grins.

You should’ve seen their expressions…

The castaways scramble as this strong alliance has suddenly lost Liana’s advantage and is still fearful that Evvie could be safe after all. Xander, Evvie, and Tiffany have just put up a flawless performance, and no one knows what to do now. People were passing around several names from left to right. But it came down to three options: voting Evvie (despite the fact that she is Xander’s idol), voting Deshawn, or voting Sydney.

After the castaways voted, it was evident that Sydney’s instincts about being on the chopping block were correct. That’s because she’s the first person this season to employ the “shot in the dark.” The “shot in the dark” implies you can’t vote and only have a one-in-six chance of winning Immunity in this situation. Sydney, however, did not play the safe card and so lost her vote. Tiffany also teased the possibility of using Xander’s idol, which she possessed all along, on Evvie before reading the votes. Xander and Evvie both advised her against it, but it was close.

The votes were 3, 3, and 3 at one point: three votes for Evvie, three votes for Deshawn, and three votes for Sydney. Then it was Evvie with four votes and Sydney with four votes. Knowing that Evvie had a hand in refusing a free Immunity Idol made it rather stressful to watch. However, their cunning strategy paid out in the end, and Sydney was the second member to be voted out.

What were your thoughts on the two-part merged episode? This was without a doubt the most intense episode of the season so far! I’m curious as to Boston Rob’s thoughts on these last-minute Tribal scrambles. That additional time to plan was never in the script during old-school Survivor, as far as I recall!
