What’s the deal with you voicing a pony in My Little Pony: A New Generation?
Sunny Starscout, who I play, is such a lovely character! She skates about on roller skates, which I don’t do, but she’s cool and her satchel is adorable. For such a little size, she’s stunning, charming, and strong.
She’s also a woman on a mission. Sunny is a tenacious activist who is battling for what she believes in, namely, diversity and inclusion.
Our tale takes place in the future, when various breeds of unicorns and ponies are at odds. But they’ve never met since they’ve been warned that the other is harmful.
Is this a case of My Little Pony colliding with Black Lives Matter?
[Laughs] My Little Pony has always been about friendship, but this is a fantastic way to break down the message of equality and inclusiveness in a manner that is both accessible and digestible for youngsters.

Which do you prefer: a unicorn or a pony?
Of course, I’m referring to a unicorn!
Do you like your eggs sunny-side up?
Definitely. I’ve always been a really upbeat individual. Friendship is really important to me, and I believe in magic.
What do you do to brighten yourself up when you’re down?
I constantly tell people to follow their hearts. Every morning, I greet the day with great appreciation. Simply the fact that I have awoken and am able to do what I like while being surrounded by people I admire and who inspire me.
I believe that appreciation has the power to transform a person’s mentality and mental condition. We all construct our own reality, and it is up to you whether you choose to live a happy life or not.
What animal would you be if you could be any animal?
This is a game that I play with my buddies! There are three types of categories. The first is how others see you, followed by how you perceive yourself, and finally who you really are.
So, a cheetah, a spider-monkey (because they’re so tiny and little and lovely! ), and a tiger. I’m a little person who like adorable tiny things), and then butterflies, since they’re the only creatures that change. They are on the verge of having two lives.
It is critical, in my opinion, to continuously push oneself to develop and evolve. My existence seems to be divided into so many chapters.

On Instagram, you have 42.4 million followers. Isn’t that mind-blowing?
I’m afraid if I spend too much time thinking about it, I’ll never publish anything. Because I’m all over the place and don’t get to speak to everyone as often as I’d want, I’ve always simply thought of it as a place to keep my friends up to speed on what I’m doing and where I’m at in the globe.
I like having all of my friends around to my home. I like entertaining guests and bringing people together. As a result, my Instagram serves as a picture of what’s going on in my life.
What’s your best advice for snapping a selfie that looks good?
Locate your source of illumination. Always seek out your source of illumination.
What you’re saying is, be loyal to yourself.
No, no, no. [She leans her phone on the window] Find the finest light, in a literal sense!
This summer, you’ve shared a lot of beautiful bikini photos of yourself. Are you genetically gifted to the point that you don’t need to exercise?
Wishful thinking! Sitting around doing nothing isn’t going to get you anywhere. You must take the initiative.
I’m always on the move, so I try to take care of myself and, most importantly, practice self-love so that I can walk into any situation as my best self.
Do you own any merchandise from High School Musical?
Yes, I do. I still have the red strappy sandals that I wore in We’re All In This Together.
I have an East High basketball in a small case with everyone’s signature on it, as well as our class ring. I also have Troy [Zac Efrontiny ]’s jewelry, although it’s tarnished. It didn’t hold up well over time.
Vanessa views herself as a Sandy rather than Rizzo from Grease Live!
What is your first recollection of being on stage?
I was in kindergarten when I first performed on stage. We were performing the nativity tale, and I was cast as Mother Mary, with a baby Jesus doll, and I sang Away In A Manger.
I don’t recall being nervous, but I was a timid child, and being on stage with a persona to practically hide behind and lines I knew would be spoken was very comfortable to me.
I believe you have ten tattoos. What’s the most recent one you’ve done?
A boa constrictor snake is the most recent tattoo I received on my leg. It’s a lot of fun.
In Grease, you portrayed Rizzo, but are you more of a Sandy?
Rizzo is certainly tougher and more determined than I am. Maybe Sandy towards the end, when she’s gone bad, you know? Because she still has a decent heart and values, but she’s ready to loosen up a little.
