Google Drive is considered to be the best cloud storage service by many users. But did you know what else it can do apart from creating backups, sharing documents and storing files? Let us take a look at the benefits of selecting multiple files on Google Drive.

Click on Google Drive icon on your computer’s desktop. In the middle of the page, you will see a list of files and folders in the current folder or location from where you have opened Google Drive. To select multiple files on Google Drive, simply hold SHIFT key from your keyboard while clicking/selecting each file to be selected. Once you have selected the files required, right-click on any one of them and from the list of options displayed at the bottom, select Copy. Now instead of opening another location to which you want to copy all your selected files, simply go back to your original Google Drive folder and paste the files there. Right-click inside that location and select paste. The files will be copied to your Google Drive location.

How to select multiple files on google drive

If you want to select multiple files on Google Drive that are in different locations, you will have to use the above process for each location. However, there is another way to do so. Once again open your Google Drive account and start selecting the required files by holding down the SHIFT key while clicking or marking them. Now when all files are selected, move your cursor just below the list of files and click on it. While you will still see all the files in the list below, this time right-click on any one of them and select ‘copy to’ from the dropdown menu. Clicking on that option will open a window where you can select the desired folder or location from which you want to copy all your selected files. Click on it and then click OK to complete the process.

Tips To Manage Your Multiple Google Drive Accounts

When you set up your Google Drive account, you will be asked to enter the email address which you use for signing in to your Google services. This is important as it allows Google to identify the account that has been used for opening the service. However, what would happen if you have more than one Gmail account? Setting up different accounts on a single device or a computer can result in a problem as each of them is used for different purposes. For example, what if you want to create a backup on Google Drive from one account and store files from another? Would it not be better if they were both set up on the same service but with different email addresses? Here’s how:

Log in to your Google Drive account using the first Gmail address you’ve used. Click on the settings icon found at the top right corner of your screen and select Account from the drop down menu. A list of all email addresses associated with your Google services will be displayed on screen. Look for the email address that is associated with the Google account you want to manage and click on it. You will now see all files and folders that you have created using the selected account. Now click on the three dots icon (displayed at the right end of your Google Drive menu bar) and select ‘Manage other account…’ from the drop down menu. Once again, you will be asked to enter another Gmail address for managing your second Google Drive account. Enter the email address related to your second Google Drive account and click on ‘Manage’. Now you will have to repeat the above process by repeating steps 2, 3 and 4 for all accounts that are associated with your single Gmail user. If you want to use another Gmail account (for creating backups, sharing files etc.) for managing your Google Drive, select that address from the list under step 2 and repeat steps 3 to 5.

Conclusion

As you can see, the process of selecting multiple files on Google Drive is simple and we have explained two methods that can be used for this purpose. The first method (which doesn’t require using the ‘copy to’ option) is best suited for selecting files from different folders while the second method (that requires copying all selected files to a single location) is useful for creating backups or sharing large files.
