The Patriots are in the midst of a historic season, but their latest injury could have them missing out on the Super Bowl.
The mac jones bill belichick walk is a story about the Patriots and their devastating injury blow that has season-altering implications for Mac Jones.
Despite a great start to the season against the Miami Dolphins, Mac Jones had significant difficulties against the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints. With the New England Patriots’ offensive line having problems, the first-year quarterback hasn’t looked as confident or as smart as he did in his NFL debut. Furthermore, important free-agent signings such as Jonnu Smith, Hunter Henry, and Nelson Agholor have had sluggish beginnings.
While there is still time to turn things around, Jones will certainly find it tough to live up to the expectations he has set for himself as a rookie. Unfortunately for the brilliant quarterback, the Patriots have been dealt a devastating injury blow that will undoubtedly create additional difficulties for an offense that can’t afford to keep having poor days at work.
Bill Belichick will be without one of his most dependable players for the remainder of the season.
When James White went down in apparent agony on his first carry against the Saints, Patriot Nation clutched its breath. The veteran running back was carried off the field and was declared out with a hip injury right away.
Despite early hope that White would escape a season-ending injury, the Patriots have officially lost their most seasoned backfield member for the remainder of the season. On Wednesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter went to Twitter to break the heartbreaking news regarding the eighth-year pro’s condition.
“According to @FieldYates and myself, Patriots RB James White’s hip injury is likely to terminate his 2021 season after additional medical tests this week,” Schefter tweeted.
On many levels, the loss of the reliable veteran is a major setback for Bill Belichick. White not only excels as a pass-catching back, but he also commands respect for his leadership abilities and professionalism. Mac Jones’ future does not seem to be as bright now that the three-time Super Bowl winner is out for the season.
White’s injury, in fact, may derail the Patriots’ new starting quarterback’s season.

White isn’t regarded as a top-tier running back. After all, since entering the league as a fourth-round selection in 2014, he’s only rushed for 1,278 yards and 11 touchdowns on 319 attempts. Few running backs in the NFL, though, can claim to have as significant an effect on the passing game as the former Wisconsin standout.
From 2015 through 2016, White has an average of 61 catches for 527 yards and 25 touchdown receptions each season. In addition, he produced well in the postseason, including an MVP-worthy effort in Super Bowl 51, which featured a game-winning two-point convert and a game-winning touchdown.
Most significantly, White gained the confidence of the coaching staff by establishing himself as a reliable blocker. That ability makes him an essential part of Josh McDaniels’ system, which is why his loss may be very expensive for a Patriots club that has struggled to keep Jones out of harm’s way.
Damien Harris has shown Pro Bowl potential as a runner, but he has struggled as a pass protector. Rhamondre Stevenson, a fourth-round rookie, hasn’t either. When White was injured, McDaniels resorted to using 31-year-old Brandon Bolden.
Jones will be in big danger if the rookie backs in New England don’t improve as pass protectors quickly. A blitzer might use a botched assignment by Harris or Stevenson to unleash a big blow on a quarterback with limited mobility and agility. If McDaniels can’t trust either guy to complete the job, he may have to rely more on Bolden, which would relieve defensive coordinators of some burden.
Furthermore, don’t discount the psychological effect of White’s departure on Jones. He’s previously acknowledged that an older teammate helped him call plays. Is it possible that White’s absence may cause communication snafus? With so many new faces on offense, having someone in the huddle with almost a decade of expertise in the scheme was invaluable.
Jones, however, no longer has that crutch, since White is no longer accessible. And if defenses take advantage of the Patriots’ catastrophic personnel loss, the season may end with additional defeats.
Should the Patriots bring in another running back?
It’s difficult to forecast the Patriots backfield, but despite Brandon Bolden’s increased playing time last week, my prediction (emphasis on guess) is that JJ Taylor will take over White’s passing game role. https://t.co/lnPtnmwXnZ

Will Bill Belichick add a free agent to his backfield? Will he give a young player a chance to show what he’s made of? Perhaps he’ll do both, but considering how the season has gone, the Patriots would be wise to throw J.J. Taylor into the mix and see what happens.
With a height of 5-foot-6 and a weight of 185 pounds, the 2020 undrafted free agent possesses remarkable strength and power for his size. Taylor made an impression this summer by displaying strong pass-catching skills and tackle-breaking prowess. And, despite hardly seeing the field in the first three weeks of the season, he is expected to play a bigger part in the coming weeks.
Even yet, it wouldn’t be surprising if Belichick signed an experienced running back in the near future. Greater expertise in that conference room, as well as more depth at the position, would be beneficial to the Patriots.
But, in the end, no one can simply take James White’s position. So, unless someone else emerges as a dependable pass protector, Mac Jones should brace himself to take more hits as the Patriots attempt to find out how to win once again.
