(NBL) is the Brisbane-based rapper’s third LP. It is a double album clocking in at just under 80 minutes long. NBL is being released by local independent label High Score Records, of which Woodroofe is also a co-director alongside fellow musician, Dave McCormack (Ozi Batla). With NBL already receiving high praise on the likes of Double J, Woodroofe has found himself in the enviable position of having to deliver.

The album is very much a concept piece, with Woodroofe taking on the role of an 18-year old kid from Brisbane. It’s not all dark and heavy though. ‘Animal Kingdom’ has already been released as a single, with its reggae tendencies making it quite unlike most anything else in Woodroofe’s back catalogue. Taken as a whole, NBL is an epic story of violence and redemption. It’s not always easy listening but it is worth the effort.
